DIY: Create your own wall art

22 Aug

I made some wall art for a few empty spots on our walls a couple weeks back and I thought I would share the project with you.  Most of the materials I had laying around our place but I did go out and purchase a couple frames from thrift stores.  This project is really inexpensive (50 cents!) and it is super easy too!

I hope you have a wonderful Thursday!

DIY: Watercolor Stationary

15 Aug

Hi friends!  I am really excited to share this post with you today.  I designed some watercolor stationary for my sister-in-law for her birthday awhile back and I wanted to share the project with you.  This project isn’t too hard but it can take a little time to get the final product that you desire.

Materials: paper, black pen, watercolors, paint brush, cardstock and a printer

Step 1: Draw the picture you wish to paint with a black pen (or outline it in black pen after you are finished drawing in pencil).

Step 2. Paint your drawing with watercolors and let dry.

Step 3. Scan your picture into photoshop and arrange your photo the way you want it to look and add the text you would like your card to say.  Make sure your document is the exact size of the cardstock you will be printing on.  Once the document is ready, put the cardstock in your printer tray.  When you click print, go to print setup and change the settings to the size of the cardstock and click print.

Step 4. To add an extra touch to the card, you can round the edges using the directions from this post.

Step 5. This step is completely optional but I thought I would show you how I packaged the stationary that I sent to my sister-in-law.  I used a clear cellophane bag and sealed the back with cute washi tape and then wrapped the package a few times with twine.

The watercolor stationary is available for purchase as well so message me if you are interested.  My email is mgregg08@gmail.com  I can customize the text and I have a few other cute watercolor floral designs as well.  Have a wonderful Wednesday!

DIY: cards with rounded corners

31 Jul

Today I have a REALLY easy DIY project for you. It literally has 3 easy steps and it doesn’t cost very much either! One thing I love more than anything else is making cards. And for awhile I have been wondering how people get the cute rounded edge look and I finally figured it out and want to share it with you. It turns out all you need is a simple little tool from your local craft store that just clips edges in a perfectly symmetrical way. Below is the simple instructions. Enjoy!

DIY: Greeting cards with washi tape

24 Jul

Today I wanted to share with you a fun DIY project for making greeting cards.  This is a really simply project that doesn’t take very much time and you will probably have most of the supplies lying around your home.  My favorite part about this project is the washi tape.  Don’t you just LOVE washi tape!  Some of my very good friends own a beautiful, boutique card company called Mango Ink and you can purchase really cute washi tape styles from their store.

Here are the directions for these fun greeting cards:

DIY: Succulent Garden

10 Jul
I am very excited about this post!  Last week I posted a picture of a preview of the succulent garden I have been working on and today I am giving you the instructions for this DIY project.  I have been obsessed with succulents for awhile now but haven’t had the time to create the project I have had in mind.  For this project I decided to use mason jars because I have had a bunch lying around from my sister’s wedding but there are a lot of other types of pots you can use.  I had a lot of fun working on this project and I hope you like it too! Below are all the instructions you need to create your own succulent garden.  Enjoy!

Materials:
– Succulents (I bought mine at a grocery store and at west elm)
– Mason jars
– Potting soil
– A small shovel
– Watering can
– Crate – to display your succulents

DIY: love letters

27 Jun
Hello friends!

I have a fun post day.  I made this note for Jonathan awhile back when he was traveling all over the country interviewing for residency.  It is a fun twist on a regular love letter and I thought I would share it with you.
To make this you will need:
– Scissors
– Twine (one of my favorite supplies!)
– Yellow masking tape
– Any magazine that you like
– Two pieces of thick construction paper
– Scratch paper and envelopes

All you need to do is attach the two pieces of construction paper by taping them together.  Use one piece of masking tape for the outside and use once piece for the inside. Once this is done, it will create a book like note.  Next, I used the twine just for design and wrapped it around the whole letter twice and tied a bow.  The rest is up to you.  I wrote a couple separate notes and cut out pictures of places I know Jonathan and I both like. You can also add more pages to the note if you need more space.  Just apply the tape to both sides of each piece of paper.  And make sure you fold them back and forth a couple times just to ensure the note will close.

I had a lot of fun making this.  It is a great gift for a friend, family member or lover.  Have a wonderful Wednesday!
